Ahhh the holiday season is nearing ,people bringing out their thick jackets, dads taking out the large shovels out of the shed. But what holiday season will be complete with out the usual holiday treats like candy, fruit cake, turkey, etc. Then there is the holiday eggnog, problem is with all the stuff we eat at holiday seasons do you think we should drink egg nog with whipped cream? Imagine the calories on that, but now thanks to Atkins we can enjoy this holiday drink with out putting in the pounds and the sugar.

The American Heart Association has added the Atkins diet to a list of other diets that can increase risks for heart disease and elevated cholesterol levels. The basic idea is that people on the Atkins diet, free from caloric restrictions, eat elevated levels of red meats and high-fat dairy products. Both of these food groups are proven causes of high cholesterol and can increase chances for heart disease—according to the American Heart Association. So, the question becomes: Is it even possible to have a healthy heart while on the Atkins diet?

1 cup Dixie Diner Mashers Potato Mix
1/4 cup sour cream
1/2 cup cream cheese
4 Tablespoons butter substitute (I cant believe it’s not butter , Smart Balance, ETC)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1 egg yolk
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil, cilantro, or parsley
1 teaspoon chicken stock seasoning (optional)
